Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Last Updated: December 19, 2025

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to opt-out of the "sale" of their personal information. The CCPA defines "sale" very broadly to include sharing personal information with third parties in exchange for valuable consideration.

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We want to be clear: we do not sell your personal information to third parties. We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months, and we have no plans to sell personal information in the future.

What We Mean by "Sell"

The CCPA broadly defines a "sale" as disclosing or making available personal information to a third party in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration. Under this broad definition, some common business practices might technically be considered a "sale" even though no money changes hands.

However, we do not engage in any activities that would constitute a sale of personal information under the CCPA. We do not:

  • Sell your data to data brokers or advertising networks
  • Exchange your information for monetary compensation
  • Share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes
  • Participate in cross-context behavioral advertising that would constitute a "sale"

How We Share Information

While we don't sell your information, we do share certain information with service providers to help us operate our Services. These disclosures are not considered "sales" under the CCPA because they are made solely for business purposes under contracts that restrict the service providers' use of the information.

We share information with the following types of service providers:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Firebase (Google) for database, authentication, and file storage
  • Analytics Providers: Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our site
  • Email Service Providers: Mailgun to send transactional emails and newsletters
  • Security Providers: Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam and abuse

All of these service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the specific purposes we've authorized and to maintain appropriate security measures to protect your data.

Public Information

Please note that some information you provide is made publicly available by design. For example:

  • Your display name and profile photo
  • Reviews, ratings, and comments you post
  • Photos you upload to beach locations
  • Questions you submit (once approved)

This public information is displayed as part of the core functionality of our Services and is not considered a "sale" under the CCPA. You have control over what you choose to share publicly.

Your Privacy Rights

Even though we don't sell your personal information, you still have important privacy rights under the CCPA, including:

  • Right to Know: You can request to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you.
  • Right to Delete: You can request that we delete your personal information. You can do this directly from your profile page.
  • Right to Access: You can export a copy of your data from your profile page.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To learn more about these rights and how to exercise them, please visit our CCPA Notice page.

Minors Under 16

We do not knowingly collect, sell, or share personal information from minors under 16 years of age. If you believe we have collected information from a minor under 16, please contact us immediately through our contact form.

Changes to Our Practices

If our data practices change in the future and we begin selling personal information, we will:

  • Update this page to reflect the change
  • Provide you with notice of the change
  • Give you the opportunity to opt-out before we sell your information
  • Implement a clear and conspicuous "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link
